Live casino games have changed what it means to play casino games online in Malaysia. A few years ago, online casino meant playing against a computer, spinning digital reels or tapping virtual card tables with no human element. Today, live casino means a real table with a dealer, streamed in high definition, with chat and the atmosphere of a casino floor.
If you’ve never played live casino before, or you’ve tried it but aren’t sure which game suits you, this guide covers the essentials. We break down the main live casino games Malaysia players meet, explain the rules in plain language, and show which bets carry the lowest house edge.
What is live casino?
Live casino is exactly what it sounds like: real casino games, played live and streamed to your screen. A human dealer runs the table from a studio. You see the cards dealt, the wheel spin or the dice shaken in real time. You place bets through the interface on your phone or computer, and the result plays out in front of you.
The technology behind it, including HD cameras, optical character recognition that reads cards and results, and low-latency streaming, makes the experience feel immersive. You can chat with the dealer and follow the action closely.
BK8’s live casino lists providers including Evolution, SA Gaming and Dream Gaming among many others. These are established studios whose games are used by many operators. Their certification and auditing arrangements are their own, so check each provider’s site if that matters to you.
Why Malaysian players like live casino
Live casino has its own tab in most lobbies Malaysian players use, BK8’s included. The appeal goes beyond the games themselves.
It feels real. There’s something different about watching a real dealer turn a real card. The human element changes the experience.
It’s social. Live chat lets you interact with dealers and other players. For players who enjoy the shared tension of a big hand, live casino brings that energy online.
You can see everything. Every card, wheel spin and dice roll happens on camera. The physical result is visible, not hidden inside software.
Some bets carry a low house edge. Baccarat and blackjack in particular have some of the lowest house edges in the casino. More on that below.
Live baccarat — Malaysia’s most played game
House edge: 1.06% (Banker bet) | Skill required: Low | Speed: Fast
Baccarat is the most played live casino game in Malaysia, and baccarat tables often outnumber everything else in a lobby. It’s easy to learn, fast to play and carries one of the lowest house edges in gambling. Our full baccarat rules guide goes deeper.

How it works
Two hands are dealt: Player and Banker. You bet on which will finish closer to 9. You can also bet on a Tie, but see below for why that’s an expensive bet.
Card values work differently from most card games. Aces count as 1. Cards 2 to 9 are face value. Tens and picture cards count as zero. If a hand totals more than 9, only the last digit counts, so a 7 and an 8 (15) is a hand of 5.
A third card may be drawn for either hand under fixed drawing rules. You don’t make that decision. Your only choice is which hand to back before the deal.
Which bet carries the lowest house edge?
| Bet | House edge | Payout |
|---|---|---|
| Banker | 1.06% | 1:1 minus 5% commission |
| Player | 1.24% | 1:1 |
| Tie | 14.36% | 8:1 |
The Banker bet has the lowest house edge even after the 5% commission on wins. A RM100 Banker win pays RM95. Player is close behind at 1.24%. The Tie bet’s 8:1 payout looks attractive, but at a 14.36% house edge it costs far more over time. Neither main bet is “due” after a streak: each hand is independent.
Popular baccarat variants
Speed Baccarat: the same rules with a much shorter betting window. More hands per hour means your hourly spend rises too.
Lightning Baccarat: random multipliers apply to some winning hands. A fee on each bet funds the multipliers, so the house edge is higher. The table’s help screen shows the multiplier range and fee.
Squeeze Baccarat: the dealer slowly bends and reveals the cards. It changes the pace and drama, not the odds.
Live blackjack — the lowest house edge with good play
House edge: about 0.5% (with basic strategy) | Skill required: High | Speed: Medium
If baccarat is Malaysia’s most popular live game, blackjack can be its best value, but only if you play correctly. With basic strategy, the house edge can drop to around 0.5%, depending on the table rules. See our blackjack rules guide.
How it works
You and the dealer each get two cards. You aim to finish closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Number cards are face value, picture cards are 10, and aces are 1 or 11.
On your turn, you can:
- Hit: take another card
- Stand: keep your hand
- Double down: double your bet and take exactly one more card
- Split: turn two cards of the same value into two hands
- Surrender: give up half your bet and leave the hand (not at all tables)
The dealer draws until reaching 17 or more, then stands. If the dealer busts, all remaining players win. Otherwise, the higher hand wins.
Basic strategy in a nutshell
Basic strategy is a mathematically derived set of decisions for every hand. The core principles:
- Stand on hard 17 or higher.
- Always hit on 8 or lower.
- Double down on 11 in most situations.
- Decline insurance: it’s a side bet with a high house edge.
- Always split aces and eights; never split tens or fives.
Following a full strategy chart brings the house edge close to its minimum. Guessing or playing on instinct raises it.
Live roulette — the classic choice
House edge: 2.70% (European) | Skill required: None | Speed: Medium
Roulette is one of the most iconic casino images: the spinning wheel, the bouncing ball, the wait as it slows. Live roulette captures that well. Our roulette guide covers every bet.
European vs American roulette
Choose European roulette over American when you have the option. European wheels have a single zero (37 pockets, 2.70% house edge). American wheels add a double zero (38 pockets, 5.26%). That extra pocket nearly doubles the house edge.
Betting options
Outside bets (lower risk, lower payout):
- Red/black: the colour of the winning number (1:1)
- Odd/even (1:1)
- High/low: 1–18 or 19–36 (1:1)
- Dozens: 1–12, 13–24 or 25–36 (2:1)
Inside bets (higher risk, higher payout):
- Straight up: a single number (35:1)
- Split: two neighbouring numbers (17:1)
- Street: a row of three numbers (11:1)
- Corner: four numbers meeting at a corner (8:1)
Lightning Roulette
Lightning Roulette by Evolution is one of the most popular live roulette games in Malaysia. Each round, one to five numbers are struck by lightning and given multipliers from 50x to 500x. To fund them, straight-up wins on other numbers pay 29:1 instead of 35:1. The RTP is 97.30% on straight-up bets and 97.10% on other bets, close to European roulette, but results swing more.

Live Sic Bo — Asia’s dice game
House edge: 2.78% (Big/Small bets) | Skill required: Low | Speed: Fast
Sic Bo is a traditional Chinese dice game that has been played across Asia for centuries, which makes it one of the most familiar live games for Malaysian players. Three dice are shaken in a covered container and revealed together. You bet on the outcome first.
The key thing to know is that Big and Small carry the lowest house edge. Big wins on totals of 11–17 and Small on 4–10, both excluding triples. Both pay 1:1 with a house edge of 2.78%.
Specific triples, specific doubles and combination bets carry house edges from roughly 9% to over 30%. The payouts look tempting, but they cost far more over time. Sticking to Big and Small makes your budget last longer.
Dragon Tiger — the fastest game in the live casino
House edge: 3.73% | Skill required: None | Speed: Very fast
Dragon Tiger is the simplest live casino game, and the fastest. One card goes to Dragon and one to Tiger. The higher card wins. You bet on which. That’s the whole game.
Rounds finish in seconds, with no decisions mid-round. For players who want quick, simple action, Dragon Tiger fits, but fast rounds mean your hourly spend climbs quickly.
Dragon or Tiger carry the lowest house edge. The Tie bet at 8:1 carries a house edge of about 32.8%, one of the most expensive bets in any live game. Some tables also offer a Suited Tie, which pays more but carries a high house edge too; its payout varies by studio, so check the table’s paytable. Both are best avoided.
Live game shows
Live game shows sit alongside the card tables in most live lobbies. Most are Evolution titles that blend a TV game show format with casino mechanics.

Crazy Time: a giant wheel with four bonus games: Coin Flip, Pachinko, Cash Hunt and the Crazy Time bonus. Multipliers can grow large in the bonus rounds.
Monopoly Big Baller: combines Monopoly with a bingo-style ball draw and a 3D board bonus where Mr Monopoly collects multipliers.
Dream Catcher: a money wheel with segments numbered 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 40, plus 2x and 7x multiplier segments that boost the next spin.
Game shows don’t replace table games for most regulars, but they’re entertaining for a casual session. They also tend to carry a higher house edge than baccarat or blackjack.

Tips for playing live casino in Malaysia
Start with baccarat or Dragon Tiger if you’re new. Neither requires strategy, so you can learn the interface, chat and betting timer without complex decisions.
Choose European roulette. The single zero makes a real difference over time.
Learn basic blackjack strategy before playing for real money. The low house edge only applies when you play correctly.
Use the live chat respectfully. Dealers and other players appreciate friendly interaction, and it makes the session more enjoyable.
Set a session budget before you start. Live games move faster than you expect, especially Speed Baccarat and Dragon Tiger. At RM10 a hand and 100 hands an hour, you put RM1,000 through the table. Our responsible gaming guide has a budgeting table and more tips on staying in control.
