Fishing games at BK8: fish shooters and Ice Fishing explained

Two games under one fishing label

Search for a fishing game casino Malaysia players actually use, and you’ll find two unrelated products sharing the name. One is the arcade fish shooter (tembak ikan), where you fire a cannon at fish swimming across the screen. The other is Ice Fishing, a live game show from Evolution with a presenter, a big wheel and fishing-themed bonus rounds.

They differ in how outcomes are decided, how fast you spend and whether a demo exists. This page covers both, then compares them side by side. If you mainly play reels, our online slots guide is the better starting point.

Part 1: arcade fish shooter games

Fish shooters grew out of the coin-operated fishing arcades found in Malaysian and Chinese malls. The online fishing casino Malaysia versions keep the same look: a tank of fish viewed from above, with up to four players sitting at cannons around the edges.

How a fish shooter works

• Cannon level is your stake. You choose how much each bullet costs. Higher levels fire bigger shots but cost more per trigger pull.
• Every shot is a bet. You pay for the bullet whether it hits or misses.
• Each target has a multiplier. Small fish might pay 2x to 5x the bullet cost. Larger creatures pay 20x, 100x or more. Exact values are in each game’s paytable.
• Capture is random. Hitting a fish doesn’t guarantee a catch. Each hit has a probability of capture, and bigger targets have lower odds.
• Boss creatures such as dragons, giant crabs or golden whales appear on a timer. They carry the highest multipliers and the lowest capture odds.
• Special weapons like lasers, drills or bombs can trigger after a capture and hit several fish at once.

Auto-aim and lock features

Most modern shooters offer auto-fire (continuous shooting) and lock-on (bullets home in on one chosen target). These make the game less tiring. They also speed up spending, because auto-fire can shoot several bullets a second. At RM0.50 a bullet, two shots a second is RM60 a minute in stakes.

Why it’s still chance-based

The tembak ikan skill debate comes up a lot. Aim does decide which fish you hit. But the capture roll on each hit comes from a random number generator, weighted by the provider so the game returns slightly less than you spend over time. A sharpshooter and a beginner face the same house edge per bullet. Skill can change what you shoot at, not the long-run return.

A worked example: what one boss costs

Say a golden dragon boss pays 300x the bullet cost and you fire RM0.20 bullets at it. A capture would pay RM60. Now suppose each hit on the dragon has roughly a 1-in-310 chance of capture. You’d expect to spend about RM62 in bullets per capture on average. (Providers don’t publish capture odds, so this figure is only for illustration.)

That gap between RM62 spent and RM60 won is the house edge at work. Some players catch the dragon in 20 shots and some spend RM150 without a catch. Both outcomes are normal variance, not signs that a table is “loose” or “tight”.

Choosing a room

Most fishing game casino Malaysia lobbies split each title into rooms by minimum cannon level, often labelled beginner, intermediate and VIP. The fish and the maths are usually the same across rooms, and only the stake range changes, but check the room list in each game. Mega Fishing, for example, uses rooms that reviews call Newbie, Honour and Joy. Pick the room whose lowest cannon fits your budget, not the one with the flashiest name.

Fish shooter titles to look for

Part 2: Evolution’s Ice Fishing live game show

Ice Fishing is a live-dealer game show from Evolution, the studio behind Crazy Time and Lightning Roulette. It streams from a studio with a real presenter. You bet through the game screen in your casino account. It’s not a downloadable app and not an arcade shooter, despite the name.

How a round works

At a high level, each round runs like this:

1. Betting window. You place chips on one or more segments of a large wheel: number segments and bonus-game segments.
2. The spin. The presenter spins the wheel. The help screen explains whether any multipliers apply before the result.
3. Number result. If the wheel stops on a number you backed, you’re paid at the odds for that segment.
4. Bonus result. If it stops on a bonus segment you backed, a fishing-themed bonus round starts. Fish are “caught” and reveal multipliers that set your payout.

Reports describe a 53-segment wheel, an RTP of about 96.5% and a top payout of 5,000x, but Evolution can run different configurations. The exact segments, payouts, maximum multiplier and RTP are in the game’s help screen, so read them there before betting.

Ice Fishing game: real or fake?

The genuine game is real. Evolution is a listed company that holds gaming licences in several jurisdictions, including Malta and the UK, and its games stream from supervised studios. Evolution is one of the studios in BK8’s live casino lobby. Open the Evolution tile to see whether Ice Fishing is listed before you deposit for it.

The “real or fake” worry is fair, though. Search results for “ice fishing game” include cloned apps and APK files using the same name and artwork. Those aren’t Evolution products, have no licence and can keep your money.

Our rule is simple: only play live game shows inside a licensed operator’s website, and never install a gambling APK from a link-sharing site. Read our Evolution provider page for the studio’s background and our live casino guide for the rest of its catalogue.

Fish shooters vs Ice Fishing compared

Bet sizing in ringgit

Fishing games feel cheap per action, which is exactly why budgets disappear. Work out your cost per minute before you start. The example below uses a RM50 session budget.

Wins slow the drain, of course, but the house edge applies to every ringgit staked. A sensible approach is to pick a low cannon level, fire manually, and switch auto-fire off. Decide in advance how much you’ll spend on a boss before moving on.

Playing fishing games on mobile

Fish shooters and Ice Fishing both run in a mobile browser on Android and iOS. Turn your phone to landscape for fish shooters, since targets cross the full width of the tank. On mobile data, a weak signal can delay your shots or drop the live stream, so play on stable Wi-Fi when stakes are higher.

If you want quicker access, BK8 offers an official app on its Download page, and our BK8 app guide explains how to install it safely. Anyone offering a “hacked” fishing APK with better odds is running a scam. Odds live on the provider’s server, so no app can change them.

Payments for fishing players

For any online fishing casino Malaysia players use, payments decide how smooth the experience feels. On BK8, fishing games use the same wallet as slots and live casino. BK8’s FAQ lists Touch ‘n Go eWallet, GrabPay, Boost, ShopeePay, DuitNow QR, Malaysian bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard and crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT), and FPX appears in its footer.

The minimum for each method shows in the Deposit and Withdraw screens. Reviews report a MYR 20–30 minimum deposit, and every deposit promotion needs MYR 50.

BK8’s FAQ says withdrawals are processed within 25 minutes, after which timing depends on your bank or e-wallet. BK8 says it doesn’t charge for deposits or withdrawals, though your bank or e-wallet may. BK8 may ask for photo ID and a bank statement before your first withdrawal. Compare every option on our payment methods page.

Fishing promotions and their terms

These offers on BK8’s promotions page cover fishing games (checked October 2026). Turnover counts on deposit plus bonus.

BK8 used to run a 30% fishing reload and a weekly turnover bonus for a game called Fishing World. Those were past campaigns and aren’t on the current list.

Reload bonuses carry turnover. A 10% Daily Reload on RM100 gives RM10, and at 8x you’d need (RM100 + RM10) × 8 = RM880 of bets within 7 days. Tournaments reward turnover, which pushes you to shoot more. Read the wagering requirements guide and the current promotions before you join one.

Try the demo first

Many fish shooters, including several JILI titles, offer a demo with play credits. On BK8, demo availability depends on the provider, so check the game tile first. Use the demo to learn which targets give up often, how fast your cannon fires and where the auto-fire switch is.

Demo results don’t predict real-money results. The demo uses the same random capture rolls, so a good demo run is luck, not a learned pattern.

Tips for fishing game players

Whichever fishing game casino Malaysia option you choose, treat it as entertainment that costs money, not a way to earn. If you find yourself raising your cannon level to win back losses, take a break. BK8’s site doesn’t list self-service limit tools, so ask live chat about deposit limits or a break; self-exclusion runs from 6 months to 5 years. Our responsible gaming page explains your options and lists free Malaysian support lines.
